  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

The aim if this interdisciplinary research is to study the specifics of changes in the art receptive field (literature, theatre, cinema) caused by such social disturbances of our time as the pandemic and the war in Ukraine. The research focus on one of the most vulnerable segments of society, namely students, who, like the rest of Ukrainian youth, were formed during several crisis and, accordingly, traumatic conditions that affected their worldview in general and particularly the art decoding. Through the prism of the analysis of students; interpretive versions, the receptive accents in classical and contemporary art were recorded, identified and analysed. This made possible to draw conclusions about changes in the parameters of the axiological field. On the basis of receptive surveys, the leading existentials provoked by the pandemic and exacerbated by the war, such as fear, anxiety, despair, alienation, loneliness, nostalgia, hatred, etc were conceptualised. Based on this, the values that contemporary art transmits and the values that its perceivers decode were summarised. Conclusions will be drawn on the implementation of new value parameters in the methodology of teaching humanitarian subjects in higher education institutions. Unlike existing studies, where the problems of "pandemic and art" and "war and art" are considered separately, the proposed research conceptualises the current unique experience of Ukrainians, who are changing their axiosphere as a result of the intense sequence of social crises. One of the manifestations of this change in the parameters of the axiological field is the specificity of the reception of art, which is considered in terms of literature, theatre and cinema examples. Therefore, the project aims to identify conclusions of undeniable scientific novelty regarding epistemological changes in contemporary culture, its change through the representation and framing of existential crises or traumas. The conclusions will help characterising the (post-)traumatic state of contemporary Ukrainian youth, who initially lived in the traumatic context of pandemic fear and isolation, and then found themselves in the traumatic conditions of war, which activated the relevant existentials. The project's conclusions will serve as a solid basis for further interdisciplinary research in the fields of literary studies, cultural studies, philosophy, psychology, and teaching methods in higher education. In addition, participation in the grant makes it possible to achieve results and acquire skills in preparing other research projects on this relevant topic.
