  In our research group, guided by Prof. Ewa Kaczorek from Poznan University of Technology (Poland), we are focused on the study of the interactions of bioactive compounds with microbial cells. We study the effects of drugs and other bioactive substances on cell walls and membranes. In parallel, based on our experience with plant surfactants (such as saponins), we are working on drug delivery systems that use natural surfactants to increase the bioavailability of dietary supplements and antibiotics. We are studying emulsion, micellar, liposome and hydrogel systems. Moreover, our research focuses on the interaction with microorganisms of chemicals that are persistent environmental contaminants, such as pharmaceuticals, PAHs, and microplastics. We study the effects of these substances on cell membranes, adhesion properties, enzymatic activity, etc. We have extensive experience in researching the biodegradation of organic compounds.
