MRSA Bone infection Implant infection Mice model
The Gordon lab is part of the Goldyne Savad Institute of Gene Therapy at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel. Our expertise extend to: 1. animal models of infection in mice, mainly with MRSA, including prosthetic joint infection, skin and soft tissue infection, bacteremia etc. 2. Infection imaging, including IVIS, CT, MRI. 3. Microbiological and molecular techniques.
Current clinical practice in infectious diseases heavily relies on in vitro analysis of bacterial susceptibility and on population-based drug pharmacokinetics. Microbial antibiotic susceptibility depends strongly on the metabolic and physiological state of the cell, which in turn is governed by the chemical and physical microenvironment. Our vision is to improve patient care by understanding host-drug-pathogen interaction in vivo. We study pathogen resistance and persistence at the site of infection (e.g., bone), by developing novel microbiological and molecular assays as well as utilizing state-of-the-art imaging modalities, in both animal models of infection and in human patients.
