Structure-based drug design; Enzyme-based therapeutics; Biofilm; Advanced antimicrobial delivery systems

  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

The Healthcare-Associated Infections Research Group aims to investigate the pathogenic mechanisms underlying some of the most prevalent infectious diseases in our setting, adopting a unified and integrative research framework that has been continuously developed since the 1980s. The group is part of I3PT, the research and innovation institute associated with Hospital Parc Taulí, a leading tertiary care hospital in Spain. This close connection between research and clinical practice enables strong translational impact, facilitating the study of infections from both molecular and clinical perspectives.

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

Our project, tentatively titled “Structure-based design of a novel antimicrobial agent against multidrug-resistant bacterial infection” aims to advance next-generation antimicrobial strategies through the development of enzyme-based therapeutics with enhanced efficacy against resistant bacteria. Our consortium comprises two Spanish research groups with strong and complementary expertise in protein structural biology and molecular/clinical microbiology. To strengthen the proposal, we are seeking European partners with specialized expertise in: 1) Biofilm biology and eradication strategies, 2) Nanoparticle- or vesicle-based delivery systems 3) Technologies or reagents to potentiate antimicrobial activity, 4) Advance platforms for the assessment and validation of novel antimicrobial compounds. We welcome collaborations in contributing to a competitive, high-impact proposal.
