Research area

  • Scientific area(s) of the call:
    1. Topic 3: Assess the impact of antimicrobials for veterinary and agricultural use on the risk of AMR transmission to humans and the environment to inform policies on the restriction of some antimicrobials for human use.
  • One Health Setting:

    H - Human Health

    A - Animal Health
    E - Environment

  • Keywords:

antibiotic resistance; veterinary microbiology; animals; One Health

  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

I am a researcher specializing in microbiology, with expertise in the epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance, isolation and identification of bacteria, phenotypic characterization and antibiotic resistance profiling by molecular assays. Within the context of antimicrobial resistance, I have experience in both participation and coordination of field and animal studies evaluating the effect of antibiotic use or exposure on resistance. My work includes investigating and monitoring the emergence and dissemination of AMR, as well as studying microbial interactions within One Health systems involving food producing animals, companion animals, humans and environmental samples. These approaches have been developed to support the monitoring of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and to contribute to the improvement or implementation of measures aimed at mitigating the spread of antimicrobial resistance.

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

I am interested in joining a consortium developing innovative antimicrobial strategies, with a focus on the monitoring of bacterial diseases and on the detection and surveillance of antimicrobial resistance in animals, humans and environmental systems within a One-Health perspective. I have the capacity to perform bacterial isolation and antimicrobial resistance testing, and I collaborate with academic or industrial partners through national projects that have access to clinical samples from animals.
