  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

I am a public health epidemiologist and clinical biochemist with over ten years of experience in antimicrobial resistance (AMR), infectious disease surveillance, and One Health–oriented research and policy. My work integrates point prevalence surveys of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial use, longitudinal laboratory AMR data analysis, and evidence translation for stewardship, infection prevention and control, and policy decision-making. To implement and scale this programme, I am seeking funding to support a small multidisciplinary core team, including: one full-time data manager (AMR surveillance and databases), one biostatistician (part-time or consultancy), one veterinary or animal health specialist (part-time), and short-term field staff for survey implementation. In addition, I am looking for technical collaboration in health information systems and digital surveillance tools to ensure long-term sustainability and impact.

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

The project is an integrated, long-term One Health programme on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance in Ecuador, led by an academic institution and designed to generate actionable evidence for decision-makers. It combines annual point prevalence surveys of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial use in hospitals, outpatient care, and communities with longitudinal analysis of hospital microbiology data (2018–present) to assess trends and the impact of COVID-19. In parallel, the project includes a phased animal health component focused on antimicrobial use and knowledge, attitudes, and practices in animal production systems, using a non-punitive, systems-based approach. The programme generates annual reports, hospital profiles, and policy-oriented dashboards to inform stewardship, infection prevention, and procurement decisions. I am also open to joining or contributing to similar One Health or AMR surveillance projects, particularly those focused on integrated data systems, capacity strengthening, and evidence-to-policy translation in low- and middle-income settings.
