Professor of Epidemiology at University College Dublin, Ireland with expertise in infectious disease epidemiology, antimicrobial resistance, infection prevention and control and health data systems in general practice and long-term care. Leads multidisciplinary and international research programmes focused on antimicrobial stewardship, One Health surveillance, clinical trials in community settings and the development of interoperable health data infrastructures. Extensive experience coordinating large European collaborations, including infectious disease platform trials and surveillance networks, with strong expertise in epidemiology, implementation science, clinical research, data integration and applied statistics. Deputy Director of the Master in One Health programme, with active collaborations across human health, veterinary medicine, environmental science and public health.
I am particularly interested in One Health projects focused on antimicrobial resistance, community prescribing and the integration of human, environmental and behavioural data to support earlier detection, better stewardship and improved public health decision-making. My interests include antimicrobial use in community and primary care settings, environmental and occupational drivers of resistance, connected health data systems, surveillance infrastructure and the implementation of practical interventions that can be embedded into routine care. I am especially interested in multidisciplinary collaborations linking public health, clinical care, veterinary medicine, environmental science and data science.
