  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) is a One Health organization that integrates human, animal, and agricultural health. Within AGES, the Bioinformatics Unit manages an antimicrobial resistance (AMR) gene database, supporting research and surveillance activities. The organization is responsible for collecting data on antimicrobial sales, use, and AMR prevalence in the veterinary sector, particularly in livestock, and partially in the human health sector. AGES operates a specialized laboratory dedicated to AMR analysis and conducts research projects focused on AMR transmission in environmental contexts. Additionally, the organization performs wastewater surveillance for respiratory viruses, contributing to public health monitoring. AGES plays a key role in Austria’s National Action Plan against AMR. It serves as the responsible unit for analyzing and reporting antimicrobial use and resistance data at the national level. With extensive experience in statistical modeling, AGES provides high-quality data interpretation and supports evidence-based decision-making. Its expertise spans data integration, bioinformatics, and epidemiological research, making it a central institution in Austria’s efforts to combat antimicrobial resistance.

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

AGES wants to join a project, where data about AM use in the veterinary sector, WGS data on AMR in veterinary, human and (to less extent) environmental samples are used to develop a transmission model for topic 3.
