• Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

  I am Esmeralda Valiente, the head of the department of biomedical optics at the National Metrology Institute of Germany (PTB) in Berlin. In our group, we aim at improving the accuracy and reproducibility of measurements (cell or gene counting). We develop reference methods, based on digital PCR and flow cytometry, for detection and quantification of antimicrobial resistance genes (ARG)/ AMR bacterial cells, respectively. This work is vital for improving current diagnostics tools. It encompasses evaluating error sources, calculating uncertainty, ensuring comparability, reproducibility and validating current methods for AMR detection, such as metagenomics and phenotypic methods.

  I would like to join in a project focused on improving diagnostics and /or surveillance in ARG in bacteria using a One Health holistic approach..
