• Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

  The Martin group (Leiden NL) has expertise in antibacterial drug discovery and development. We use the tools of medicinal chemistry and organic (semi)synthesis to generate novel antibacterial agents with the aim of overcoming resistance as well as reducing the toxicity associated with many antibiotic classes. We are also well equipped to conduct standard in vitro assays (i.e. MIC assays) with all ESKAPE pathogens.

• Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

  We are particularly interested in joining projects with partners who have novel platforms/strategies for enhancing the antibacterial activity of our next generation antibacterials. Specifically, we are interested in groups who are developing inhibitors of bacterial efflux pumps and/or outer membrane permeabilizing agents to enhance uptake in Gram-negative pathogens.
