  • Career stage: Other.

Research area

  • Scientific area(s) of the call:
    1. Topic 2: Develop tools and methods to improve adherence to treatment protocols.
  • One Health Setting:

    H - Human Health

    A - Animal Health

therapeutic drug monitoring; pharmacogenomics; pediatrics; patient specific models; PK PD models

  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

I am an Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacology with consolidated expertise in therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, and pharmacogenomics, with a strong focus on pediatric patients and personalized antimicrobial therapy. My research integrates microsampling approaches, population PK modeling, and genetic biomarkers to optimise antimicrobial exposure, reduce toxicity, and prevent the emergence of resistance. I coordinate and participate in several observational clinical studies involving precision dosing of antibiotics and biological agents, and I collaborate with clinical laboratories for the implementation of innovative diagnostics supporting individualized treatments.

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

I am interested in joining or contributing to a project within OH-TREAT Topic 2, aimed at improving adherence to antimicrobial treatment protocols and ensuring optimal drug exposure, particularly in vulnerable or difficult-to-treat populations. The project concept I can support focuses on integrating TDM, microsampling, and pharmacogenomic tools to monitor and optimise antimicrobial therapy in real-world clinical settings. The approach includes identifying PK/PD and genetic factors associated with suboptimal response or poor adherence, and developing patient-specific dosing or monitoring strategies to improve therapeutic outcomes and limit antimicrobial resistance. I seek partners with expertise in infectious diseases, microbiology, behavioral sciences, adherence monitoring technologies, health informatics, or veterinary/One-Health settings to build a multi-disciplinary consortium.
