  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

The Geological Institute of Romania (IGR) is a leading research institution in geosciences, with a long-standing track record in geological mapping, geophysical investigations, and geohazard assessment. IGR’s expertise encompasses the application of classical and advanced geophysical methods, including Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT), Self-Potential (SP), Induced Polarization (IP), and Electromagnetic (EM) techniques, integrated with geotechnical, hydrogeological, and geochemical analyses. The institute has substantial experience in monitoring unstable terrains, landslides, subsidence, and saline or evaporitic formations, providing data critical for early-warning systems and risk mitigation strategies. IGR seeks collaboration with research groups specializing in quantum sensing technologies, including NV-diamond and SQUID sensors, quantum-enhanced electrometry, and hybrid instrumentation. Expertise in high-precision, low-noise data acquisition, real-time geophysical monitoring, and multi-source inversion algorithms is particularly sought to complement IGR’s geoscientific capabilities and to advance the development of next-generation monitoring systems for unstable terrains.

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

“QuaGeoSense” develops a hybrid geophysical monitoring system combining quantum sensors (NV-diamond, SQUID) with classical Electrical Resistivity Tomography. The project aims to achieve ultra-high sensitivity and spatio-temporal resolution for monitoring unstable and saline terrains. By integrating quantum-enhanced measurements with multi-source inversion algorithms, it enables early detection of micro-scale geophysical processes, advancing predictive geophysics and providing a foundation for next-generation early-warning systems.
