• Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

  Our group at the Bioengineering Institute of the University Miguel Hernández (Spain) has been a pioneer in the development of a cortical visual prosthesis for the blind based on intracortical microelectrodes and one of the first researchers incorporating the neural code in a visual prosthesis. We are currently leading a clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of a cortical visual prosthesis in profoundly blind individuals. We have already generated extensive datasets from multielectrode recordings in human participants.

  The rapidly emerging field of neurotechnology has the potential to radically transform medical practice. We are seeking proposals focused on advancing the understanding of brain function to develop novel technologies capable of reading from and writing to the brain, opening novel avenues for diagnosis, treatment, and enhancement of brain function.
