Antibiotic resistance; Bdellovibrio; microbiota; resistoma
The group of research expertise (two researchers) embrace studies on antibiotic resistance and alternative or adjuvant strategies such as: bacterial predators; natural/synthetic substances and bacterial products; procedure concerning the transplantation of faecal microbiota for the treatment of antibiotic resistant Clostridium difficile colitis and other diseases related to gut dysbiosis.
Our research group would like to "join projects" concerning the study on antibiotics alternative strategies, for example the study of synthetic or natural compounds with antibiotic-adjuvant properties, or study on the use of bacterial predators such as Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus to overcome problems of antibiotic resistance. As "partner looking for project", we will have a multitasking approach that involves the use of innovative molecular and cellular approaches. We will be able to evaluate: a) The cytotoxicity towards different cell lines and their impact through the evaluation of the inflammatory induction levels by the evaluation of non-inflammatory and inflammatory cytokines; b) the MIC and MBC value against different bacterial species; c) the synergistic interaction activity between different antimicrobial substances; d) the bacterial biofilms features and antimicrobial resistances.
