Chemical modification synthesis natural products peptides biofilms

  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

We are interested in searching new therapies for infectious diseases. We are performing mass spectrometry-based metabolomics analysis, bioassay-guided isolation and structural elucidation of antibacterial and antimalarial natural products such as alkaloids, cyclic peptides and terpenoids from medicinal plants, fungi and marine resources. In addition, we also make the analogues of hit compounds via biotransformation and chemical modification to study their structure-activity relationships, to improve their physicochemical properties and to investigate their mechanisms of action.

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

We would like to join any projects aiming to 1) discover novel antimicrobial agents and improve the hit compounds by chemical modification/biotransformation, and 2) design and implement innovative tools, including novel chemistry and/or new materials for improved application, efficacy and delivery of antimicrobials.
