Magdalena received her master’s degree and PhD from the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, where she specialised in local and regional development, rural development and relocation of enterprises in metropolitan regions. After completing her PhD studies, she worked as an assistant lecturer at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management at the Jagiellonian University and assistant professor at the Institute of Urban and Regional Development (former Institute of Urban Development) in Krakow, where she has been the deputy director for research for over three years. She has managed a number of research projects, including a SONATA project funded by the National Science Centre, as well as international projects under the International Visegrad Fund and the Polish-German Foundation for Science (as the principal investigator of the Polish part of the project). She has also participated in a few projects carried out under international cooperation, e.g. Interreg UE Programme. She is the author or co-author of several dozen research studies published in journals and monographs of international impact, and a few monographs (published by, inter alia, Springer). Magdalena is fascinated by Carmelite spirituality, which she pursues by participating in the studies of the Carmelite Spirituality Centre.
Since June 2019, she has worked as a scientific coordinator for Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the National Science Centre.
