Full professor in psychology, head of the Social Psychology Unit and Center for Social Cognitive Studies in the Institute of Psychology at Jagiellonian University, vice-dean of the Philosophy faculty at Jagiellonian University (2012-2019), former head of the Institute of Psychology at Jagiellonian University (2008-2012); member of the NCN Council (2012-2020), between 2008-2014 President of the Polish Association of Social Psychology, from 2016 Member of the Polish Academy of Science, Member of the Executive Committee of the European Association of Social Psychology (European Liaison Officer).

She has authored over 60 papers published in Polish and international journals (e.g. Political PsychologyPersonality & Individual Differences, Journal of Personality, International Journal of PsychologyEuropean Journal of Social Psychology, British Journal of Psychology, Cognition & Emotion, Motivation & Emotion, Brain & Behavioral Sciences, Advances in Experimental Social Psychology, Motivational Science, Frontiers in Psychology). She is the author and co-author of seven books about social cognition. She is an associated editor of the European Journal of Social Psychology and Journal of Social and Political Psychology, she is a member of the editorial board of Behavioral Sciences of Terrorism and Political Aggression.

Her areas of interest include the cognitive and motivational underpinnings of complex social phenomena (e.g. political beliefs, prejudice, stereotyping), cognitive rigidity and its relationships with problem solving and decision-making. Her work also includes determinants of task engagement (effort invested in cognitive tasks), performance under stress, and human-computer interaction, especially in the context of computer generated multitasking.
