Announcement of the call for proposals - ETIUDA 7

ETIUDA is a funding opportunity intended for doctoral students

Pursuant to Article 18 (5) and Article 26 of the Act on the National Science Centre of 30 April 2010 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 947, as amended) and NCN Council Resolution No 109/2018 of 8 November 2018, the Council of the National Science Centre hereby announces the ETIUDA 7 call for proposals for doctoral scholarships. 

• Proposals under the ETIUDA 7  call shall be submitted in an electronic format only via the OSF system at https://osf.opi.org.pl.
• A proposal shall be deemed electronically submitted when its status in the OSF system changes to “submitted” [wysłany]. The applicant shall be responsible for verifying whether his/her proposal has been submitted correctly. 

The call for proposals is addressed to persons without a doctorate degree, who are successful in research and have embarked or will embark on a doctorate by 30 April 2019. Successful candidates shall earn a doctorate degree within 12 months of completing the scholarship programme but not earlier than 6 months after the beginning of the scholarship programme.

Duration: a scholarship programme of 6 to 12 months and compulsory foreign fellowship of 3 to 6 months, which shall be completed in a research institution located in a country from the list specified by the NCN during the scholarship programme under the ETIUDA 7 call or 12 months thereafter.

Evaluation criteria:

• research under the scholarship must include basic research;
• research achievements of the applicant;
• quality of research, including the level of expertise of the research;
• appropriate choice of the foreign fellowship location;
• preparation of the proposal.

Evaluation procedure: two-stage merit-based evaluation. First stage: evaluation by two members of the Expert Team and decision of the Expert Team to qualify the applicant for the second stage of evaluation. Second stage: interview with the applicant.  

Funding:

• Scholarship of PLN 4,500 per month for the period of 6 to 12 months;
• PLN 12,000 per month, multiplied by the percentage correction rate set for a given country, to cover the costs of staying at a foreign research institution; and
• PLN 1,000 to PLN 10,000, depending on the distance between the applicant’s place of residence, to cover the cost of return travel of the applicant to the foreign research institution.
