Katarzyna Śniegowska-Świerk
 

She is a graduate of Inter-Faculty Studies in Biotechnology at the University of Agriculture in Krakow. She has researched specific features of mitochondrial DNA transcription in terms of cytoplasmic male sterility for her MA thesis at the Department of Genetics, Plant Breeding and Seed Science.

In 2016, she was conferred PhD in Agriculture (Plant Biochemistry) at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Horticulture, having defended a dissertation on “Selected aspects of regulating HVA1 and Srg6 gene expression in response to drought stress of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.).” She has also completed post-graduate studies in project management and specialist studies in research project management and research commercialisation.

She has acted as an investigator in a number of research projects at the University of Agriculture in Krakow and managed her own NCN-funded project under the PRELUDIUM call for proposals, researching elements of draught signal transduction in barley. She is a co-author of publications in JCR-listed journals, papers presented at conferences in Poland and abroad and author of monograph chapters.

She has turned her interest in science into business and managed a spin-off company founded by a special purpose vehicle of the University of Agriculture for 3 years. The company was involved in green biotechnology services.

Since November 2018, she has been employed by the National Science Centre as a coordinator for Life Sciences.
